Google recently released a revamped version of its video chat program, Hangouts Meet, and made the app available to anyone with a Google Account. You can enable or join the Meet Videoconference from your Gmail inbox using the buttons placed on the left side of the page.
What if you don't want to use Meet, or if you don't think it should ever be? No worries - you can hide buttons. (Note: If you have a corporate G Suite account, you cannot change it depending on your administrator settings.)
Here is the how to hide Google Meet in Gmail Account:
- Open Gmail Account
- Click on the gear icon as 'Settings' in the top-right corner, and then click on 'see all settings'
- Click on the Chat and Meet' tab
- Next to the 'Meet:' label, select 'Hide the Meet section in the main menu'
- Click on Save Changes
